The Classic and Elegant Update. This project had many objectives, our clients were busy executives with a blended family, who traveled and entertained often. They wanted to update their family home, creating a clean, modern, elegant space while keeping the traditional warm tones of wood. We wanted to create a “wow” factor when you first entered the home, so we updated the stair balusters to iron and opened up the wall in the upstairs foyer, creating more volume. New carpet, paint, light fixtures and hardwoods in the formal dining area were a perfect backdrop for the elegant and dramatic Restoration Hardware chandelier.
Hearing about their experiences of their travels abroad, it was important to create and incorporate a “spa-like” experience for their home. While it was clear that storage was extremely important, it was also discussed about how to make the space feel elegant, restorative and functional.
It was also important to our clients to have enough space for both their professional and personal attire, so much attention was paid to customizing their storage needs. To accomplish this we created a his and hers closet system, both tailored to their individual preferences. The extra “bonus” space in the Master Bedroom was perfect fit for the wife’s “dream closet” while the space in the Master Bath was ideal for the matching closet system, but tailored to the husband’s style and preferences. We intentionally kept the “open concept” feeling but used the closet system to achieve a beautiful separation of space.
We also redesigned and modernized their hall bath using a custom built quarter-sawn walnut vanity as statement piece and accentuated the space with “Modern” polished nickel fixtures and hardware from Restoration Hardware.
